Article One Response

In the Article, 7 grammar rules you really should pay attention to, written by Ben Yagoda, talks of common mistakes in grammar such as: the subjective, bad parallelisms, verb problems, pronoun problems, "dangling" conversations, semicolons and word usage. The article explains how people misuse the previously mentioned grammar issues and how you can correct these mistakes. One of the longest sections of the article's is about pronoun problems, specifically the words me, myself, and I. These words are often misused on social media sights or even in day to day conversations. Often using me instead of I or using myself as a go to option when it is just as incorrect as using I instead of me. Dangling conversations are probably my biggest issue as I do things like the example given in the quote below often.

"In a class, I once assigned students to "review" a consumer product. One student chose a bra sold by Victoria's Secret. She wrote:
Sitting in a class or dancing at the bar, the bra performed well…. Though slightly pricey, your breasts will thank you.
The two sentences are both guilty of dangling modifiers because (excuse me if I'm stating the obvious), the bra did not sit in a class or dance at the bar, and "your breasts" are not slightly pricey."

Many people often make the mistake given above and rarely realize it.
Most of the rules I already knew of so my face basically looked like this the whole time.

But the dangling conversations were new to me so I learned something.
